Clash, Ranked & Skins | Dev Update - League of Legends - Momin Game
Greetings, esteemed individuals! Welcome back to another captivating Development Update featuring Momin and Andrei, also recognized as Meddler. Today, we are delighted to have Stephanie Leung, the esteemed leader of the Skins team, gracing our presence. Stephanie will be presenting some exhilarating progress reports regarding the Art and Sound Updates (ASUs) for Lee Sin and Teemo, the Star Guardian skins transitioning from Wild Rift, as well as an upcoming Ultimate skin. However, prior to delving into these updates, let us engage in a discourse about recent advancements in the realms of Ranked play and Clash.
Earlier this year, we implemented several modifications to the Ranked system, including a reduction in promo series from five games to three, the removal of visible ranked information during matchmaking, and the division of the year into two distinct Ranked climbs. We are pleased with the favorable impact these alterations have had thus far, and we have additional updates planned for Ranked during the Midseason in July.
Presently, a significant majority of Ranked players find themselves within the Silver and lower tiers, with only a marginal fraction of the player base occupying Gold 4 and above. We contend that this distribution excessively favors the lower end and fails to adequately represent the diverse skill levels present within the game. To address this concern, we are making adjustments to the Ranked distribution.
Nevertheless, we remain committed to upholding the integrity of Diamond and higher ranks and avoiding an excessive concentration of players within these tiers. To achieve this delicate balance, we are introducing a novel tier known as Emerald, strategically positioned between Platinum and Diamond. The skill requirements for Diamond+ will remain unaltered. For those who wish to delve deeper into the specifics of these modifications, we have thoughtfully crafted a comprehensive developer blog at your disposal.
Another area of player concern revolves around the promotional series. The issue of promos has been a subject of ongoing debate, and we have taken a step in the right direction by eliminating them between divisions. We have observed that other ranked systems, such as those in Wild Rift and Teamfight Tactics, effectively generate excitement and goal-oriented gameplay without the drawbacks associated with the promo system. Hence, we have made the resolute decision to completely eliminate promotional series from the League.
Indeed, you heard correctly—promos will be a thing of the past in League! We anticipate that this transformation will significantly enhance the overall ranked experience, rendering progression smoother and more rewarding for all players.
Now, let us shift our attention to the realm of Clash. For numerous players, Clash represents the pinnacle of competitive League of Legends. It offers a platform to assemble dedicated teams, scout opponents, and engage in high-stakes battles. Nonetheless, we recognize that certain pain points exist within the Clash system, and we are actively addressing them.
In the short term, our focus centers around three major concerns: teams prematurely forfeiting after losing the first round, enhancing the overall reliability of Clash, and transforming Clash into an event worthy of advanced planning. To incentivize teams to persist throughout the entire tournament, we are modifying the reward system to be based on the number of games won or lost.
Additionally, we will be transitioning from biweekly to monthly Clash tournaments. This strategic shift will enable us to allocate additional resources towards monitoring and supporting the Clash servers, ensuring a more stable experience for all participants. Moreover, owing to the overwhelmingly positive response received for the ARAM Clash last year, we are delighted to announce our intention to host more non-Summoner's Rift Clashes, with the next ARAM Clash scheduled for August.
For a comprehensive overview of the changes occurring within Clash, we urge you to peruse the recently released developer blog, which presents a wealth of valuable information.
Now, let us pass the baton to Stephanie, who will regale us with updates from the enthralling realm of skins. The floor is yours, Stephanie!
Greetings, esteemed individuals! I am Stephanie "100 pc nuggets" Leung, the new leader of the skins team and former insights human on League. I am delighted to share the recent endeavors of our team.
Let us commence with the Art and Sound Updates (ASUs) for Lee Sin and Teemo. Our objective for Teemo is to elevate him to contemporary standards by updating his spell animations and granting him a more expressive countenance. We are also revamping his voiceover, lore, and recalls. As for Lee Sin, our aim is to accentuate the visual presence of his dragon spirit magic and enhance gameplay clarity by bestowing upon him a more distinctive silhouette. Furthermore, we shall ensure that he receives modernized animations and sound effects, finally putting an end to the prevalent neck-related memes. Although there remains work to be done, we are making exceptional progress on their fundamental updates and shall subsequently proceed to address their extensive skin collections. Keep a watchful eye out for Lee Sin in the first half of 2024 and Teemo in the latter half.
In addition to the ASU updates, we bear thrilling news regarding the migration of the Star Guardian skins from Wild Rift. We have made substantial strides in bringing Seraphine, Orianna, and Senna to League, and it is with great pride that I announce the availability of Seraphine and Orianna in patch 13.13, with Senna set to arrive in patch 13.14. But wait, there's more! We have not forgotten about Redeemed Xayah and Rakan, who will make their long-awaited debut towards the end of the year. While the adaptation of the legendaries may require additional time, rest assured, they are on their way.
Furthermore, Crystalis Motus Leona has officially made its debut on the PBE. It represents the inaugural skin within our latest mythic thematic. Following its release, Taliyah and Ashe will receive the next Crystalis Motus skins later this year. Brace yourselves for an awe-inspiring visual spectacle!
Last but certainly not least, I am thrilled to announce that Samira will be bestowed with an Ultimate skin as part of this year's summer event. Initially, our intention was to create a Legendary skin for Samira, but we soon realized that her design warranted something even more grandiose. Through continuous additions and refinements, we cannot contain our excitement for the final result. Stay tuned for more updates on Samira's Ultimate skin in the upcoming months. For further insights into the realm of skins and the Ultimate skin for Samira, I encourage you to peruse our accompanying developer blog.
That concludes my updates for the present. I shall now yield the stage to Riot Brightmoon and Meddler. Over to you, esteemed individuals!
Thank you, Stephanie! Your insight into the future of skins has been nothing short of extraordinary. Now, let us briefly touch upon a couple of additional topics.
By our next rendezvous, we shall have further information regarding the new champion Naafiri and the exhilarating 2v2v2v2 game mode, as they will become available on the PBE. We are also diligently working on updates for Jax and Skarner, although we have no new details to disclose at this time.
Let us not forget that the first Ranked split will draw to a close on July 17th, according to server time, and Ranked will reopen on July 19th. Mark your calendars accordingly! Additionally, we encourage you to explore the developer blogs released today for deeper insights into Ranked play, Clash, ASU updates, and skins.
In our ongoing quest for innovation, we are trying out a rapid-fire question and answer format in a

We extend our sincerest gratitude to all of you for joining us today, and we eagerly anticipate sharing more exhilarating updates in the future. Until next time!
