The Basic Beginner's Guide to Rogue Demon - Momin Game

Welcome to Rogue Demon, an action-packed game where ancient weaponry and intense combat take center stage. In this guide, we'll walk you through the game's mechanics to help you grasp its intricacies. From basic controls to blocking, dashing, and the vital breathing mechanic, we'll cover it all. So let's dive in and uncover the secrets of this thrilling world of war crimes.

Let's start with the fundamental controls. Use the W, A, S, and D keys to navigate your character. Double-tap W to sprint, and press the space bar to jump. When it comes to engaging in hand-to-hand combat, your left mouse button will unleash a series of punches. You have five punches at your disposal, with the final blow knocking your unfortunate victim backward. To execute a combo, string together four regular punches and finish with your extender punch. Additionally, a powerful punch can be executed by pressing the right mouse button.

However, beware of its drawbacks—missing with this punch leaves you vulnerable and open to counterattacks. Although both punches inflict damage, you'll primarily rely on your left mouse button for combat.

Next, let's delve into blocking. Press the F key to activate your block, which shields you from most incoming attacks. However, guard breaks can shatter your defense, leaving you exposed. Additionally, opponents can bypass your block if you fail to face them directly. Mastering the art of parrying guard breaks is crucial, as a well-timed block can stun your attacker instead. While blocking is a straightforward mechanic, it plays a vital role in your survival and success.

Now, let's discuss dashing—a simple yet effective move. By pressing the Q key, you can quickly dash forward. If your breathing bar is filled (we'll cover breathing shortly), these dashes transform into flashsteps, propelling you even farther. Dashing is primarily used for maneuvering around the battlefield and repositioning yourself strategically.

Breathing is the core mechanic of the game, activated by holding the G key. As you breathe, a white bar on the side of your screen fills up, indicating your breath meter. When you breathe, you gain several powerful buffs. Your movement speed increases, you can perform double jumps on walls, your health regenerates more rapidly, and your dashes are replaced by agile movements inspired by famous anime techniques.

Maintaining a sufficient breath level is essential because these buffs greatly enhance your combat capabilities. However, be cautious not to overfill the breath meter, as reaching the top triggers breath stun, temporarily disabling your ability to breathe. Remember to breathe in real life too, as it's crucial for your well-being—both inside and outside the game.

Let's take a look at the health bar displayed at the bottom of your screen. It represents your character's vitality. When your health depletes, you enter a knocked state, during which opponents can pick you up or execute you. Similarly, when you manage to knock down an opponent, you have the opportunity to pick them up or perform an execution. Press the V key to lift an opponent, and the B key to execute them. If you choose to carry someone, you can hold the V key to throw them or simply press it to release them gently. Understanding this mechanic is crucial for both survival and gaining an upper hand in combat.

Now, let's discuss Rogue Coins, which play a role in acquiring cosmetic upgrades. You can obtain these coins by entering random codes, completing daily tasks, or engaging in bounty hunting quests offered by an NPC. Take your earned Rogue Coins to the blacksmith NPC, located across the map, and choose from a range of options to customize your appearance. Use them to color your sword, acquire captivating execution effects, and more. While Rogue Coins don't impact gameplay,

they offer enjoyable cosmetic enhancements for your character.

Moving on to movesets, each character has four unique moves, often with one designated as the ultimate ability. These moves serve various purposes and provide diverse effects. To activate a move, equip it by pressing the corresponding number, then click to unleash its power. Alternatively, you can toggle a setting that enables activation by pressing the number alone, although this is generally considered less effective.

With numerous movesets available, each with its distinct abilities, it's up to you to choose the one that suits your playstyle. You can find more information about specific movesets in my blog, although please note that some details may be outdated.

Finally, let's touch on the ranked mode. In the main menu, once you've executed 50 opponents, you unlock access to ranked matches. Engage in thrilling 1v1s, 2v2s, 3v3s, or 4v4s and compete for ranking on the leaderboard. Winning matches increases your elo, while losing decreases it. Elo represents your position in the ranked leaderboard, and its sole purpose is to gauge your performance. If you're new to the game, don't worry about ranked matches just yet; focus on honing your skills and enjoying the game.

That concludes our basic beginner's guide to Rogue Demon. While there are more advanced mechanics to explore, we'll save those for future blogs.
